Guest Post: Annie's I Am From Poem

I am from Fall

I am from fall
When kids sprit and play
Soaking  up every last sunny day
The whole family is outside raking
Floating leaves
Swept away by the wind
The smells of  pumpkin pies and pastries
 Dance around the air
When there is so much food it overflows off the table

I am from the sneakers
I run every race in
Cross Country Races that I long for every Friday
 crowds chants and yells
 drowned out by my exhaustion
my throat pleads for water
my legs moan for a break
The races where everything is worth it when you’re out of the chute and free

I am from the trees
red and orange yellow and gold
leaves float down
the strong wind ripping leaves from their homes
the wind sound like whispers
and mumbles
the crisp paper thin leaves in my hair
Trees that  make the memories I will cherish forever

I am from  fall
fall is where I make my memories
fall is where my dreams take place
 fall is where I from

And  fall is where I’ll stay
